Conversational Spanish online: one hour of guided speaking with a native tutor
For adults who understand Spanish but freeze when they have to speak. Sixty minutes of real conversation on Google Meet, corrected as you go, with a written recap after every lesson. No platform, no subscription.
Why you freeze, and what fixes it
You have done the apps. You understand a fair amount when you read or listen. Then someone asks you a question in Spanish and nothing comes out, or a translated sentence comes out word by word, and the conversation dies.
That is not a vocabulary problem. It is a practice problem: you have spent hours receiving Spanish and almost none producing it under the mild pressure of a real listener. The only thing that fixes it is speaking, a lot, with someone who corrects you at the moment you make the mistake and then lets you try again.
How a conversation lesson works
- 60 minutes on Google Meet, one to one, with the link sent automatically when you book.
- A topic chosen for you: your job, your last trip, a news story, a situation you need to handle next week. You talk, Alberto asks, pushes back, reformulates.
- Corrections in real time, spoken and typed in the chat, so you see the right form while you are still thinking about the sentence.
- A written recap after every lesson: the mistakes to watch, the expressions you learnt, a short exercise for the week.
The first lesson is a free 30-minute trial. Alberto listens to you speak, tells you honestly where you are, and proposes a plan. You decide afterwards.
Who it is for
- Adults with school or app Spanish who can read but cannot hold a conversation.
- Travellers who want to be understood on their next trip, see Spanish for travel to Peru and Latin America.
- Professionals with Spanish-speaking colleagues, clients or patients who need to stop relying on the one bilingual coworker.
- Heritage speakers who understand their family but answer in English.
- Learners preparing an oral exam who need practice with a native ear before the day.
Complete beginners are welcome too: the conversation is simply shorter and more guided at first, and the explanations can be in English.
A native teacher who has taught in the United States
Alberto is Spanish, born in Valladolid, and has taught Spanish for twenty-one years in Spain, France, the United States, Tunisia and the French overseas territories. He holds a Máster ELE, the master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and a degree in French philology.
In 2015 and 2016 he taught Spanish at Caddo Middle Magnet School in Shreveport, Louisiana, and trained there in cooperative learning and in Hispanic heritage in Louisiana. He knows how American learners are taught Spanish, what usually goes wrong, and how to explain the difference in English when needed. He speaks English at C1 level.
He has been teaching online since 2023 and now lives in Huarán, in the Sacred Valley near Cusco, Peru. Expect Latin American Spanish in the conversation, with Spain’s variants pointed out when they matter.
Evening lessons on the East Coast, without night shifts for him
Peru is on New York time, within an hour depending on daylight saving. A lesson at 7 pm in Boston or Atlanta is early evening for Alberto; a lesson at 6 pm in Denver or 5 pm in Los Angeles is still comfortable. A teacher based in Spain cannot offer that without teaching in the middle of his night, and it shows over time.
